Vaccination works, Hungary works - among other things, this is what the participants of this year's Civic Picnic in Kötcs drew attention to. The traditional right-wing season opener also featured the future of the European Union, the migration crisis, and next year's parliamentary elections. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also gave a speech at the event, which was held again after a one-year hiatus.

On Saturday morning, the entire Hungarian press awaited the arriving politicians and public figures before the 20-year-old Civic Picnic.

Balázs Orbán: The vaccination works, Hungary works

Balázs Orbán added at the Dobozy Kúria, which hosted the event, that they are still not planning any epidemiological restrictions, "because they are not, but vaccination is the solution", and everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated.

The State Secretary stated: Hungary is a safe place in the current, uncertain world. According to their assessment of the situation, Hungary is functioning thanks to vaccinations, otherwise we have arrived in an uncertain world - according to some, without world order. We are in the age of migrations and epidemics, and every country must be prepared to deal with it, he said.

"I think that the EU is the most livable and best framework for Hungary in the last hundred years, we are interested in the union remaining together," he underlined.

   Balázs Orbán noted

there are many challenges facing the community: debt crisis, competitiveness problems and "not being able to impose our will on the world". He said that it is necessary to fight to keep the EU together, but not everyone thinks so; the "Brussels bureaucrats and left-wing, liberal political groups are pushing such extreme ideological issues" as migration and gender ideology even in this difficult situation. In relation to Afghanistan, the issue of quotas has come up again, and it seems that "in Brussels, gender lobbying is more important than protecting our children".

The third question is how to fight climate change. In Brussels, instead of those who cause climate change, they want to make ordinary European citizens pay the price, he said.

Balázs Orbán emphasized that the policies of the past ten years have brought success: both the government's family support and tax reduction policies, the principle of work instead of aid, the protection of national identity, and the tough stand for national interests have strengthened Hungary.

In 2022, we can choose whether to continue this policy or go back to where we were before 2010, he said, adding: "the proposal of the leader of the left, Ferenc Gyurcsány, is to return to the era before 2010".

"We would like to encourage Hungarian citizens to stick with the policies of the past ten years," said the state secretary. said Balázs Orbán.

Szijjártó: Hungary has a strong interest in the EU, but the union must change

Hungary is interested in the European Union being strong, but in order to achieve this, the alliance must also change, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Péter Szijjártó added at the Dobozy Kúria, which hosted the meeting: 77-78 percent of Hungary's exports go to the EU, the country's interest is EU membership, and the EU also has an interest in Hungarian membership. In response to a question, he stated that he would still vote for the country's membership in the European Union today.

He said that at the meeting of the EU's foreign ministers in Slovenia on Friday, he experienced: "they failed to understand that in 2015 they caused the biggest challenge and crisis of the EU so far by inviting migrants without restrictions".

"Now the same thing is happening on the part of the big ones, although there are more and more of us who have dared to speak openly against it," he said.

He said the V4s still constitute the strongest alliance within the EU despite attempts to weaken the alliance.

In response to a question, Péter Szijjártó reacted to what happened during the Hungarian national football team's match against England on Thursday in Budapest. He said that action must be taken against racist expressions, "hurtful generalizations" concerning Hungarians, and double standards. Action must also be taken against the talk of a hostile, racist atmosphere in connection with the match in Budapest, he said.

"There were racist manifestations, but it is impossible to classify the behavior of 60,000-70,000 people based on this," said the minister.

Judit Varga: we need a better quality, "smarter" Europe

The answer to the crises of recent years is not "more Europe", but a better quality, "smarter" Europe is needed, said the Minister of Justice in Kötcsén to journalists before the event called Citizen's Picnic.

At the Dobozy Manor, where the meeting took place, Judit Varga added: she will initiate a debate on the future of the EU, in which it will be about what kind of response Europe should give to them, learning from the crises of the past years.

Integration should be strengthened where it has added value, he said.

The Minister of National Defense Tibor Benkő, who came to the event, in response to the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on Friday - according to which "we have taken out of Afghanistan those who helped us, we are not willing to accept a single Afghan apart from them" - explained that it is clear that people cannot enter Hungary without a certificate that we do not know with what intention they come.

"Anyone can still enter Hungary, they just have to have the right travel documents," he noted.

Viktor Orbán: We stand up for our national interests

Hungary is safe in this uncertain world - the Prime Minister began his post on his social media page, where he included a quote from Kötcse's speech.

Viktor Orbán continued:

"We protect families, reduce taxes, give jobs instead of aid and stand up for our national interests."

Gergely Gulyás, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office, said on his way out of the event: the prime minister also mentioned next year's parliamentary elections in his speech. He revealed: in the Prime Minister's speech, he quoted former American President Ronald Reagan when he said: We win, they lose!

At this year's Civic Picnic, as in previous years

they organized a collection again, this time for the István Regőczi Foundation, founded by the President of the Republic János Áder and his wife, Anita Herczegh,
