After the blessing of the building, the people of Gyimesfelsőlo could symbolically take possession of the new parish building and community center on Sunday afternoon. The investment, which began in 2017, was financed by local and national tender grants, as well as generous donations from the faithful and church leaders.
Before the blessing of the building, the faithful attended the mass of auxiliary bishop László Kerekes on Sunday, after which they marched from the church to the parish. In his welcoming speech, local parish priest Nimród-István Vass noted that the finished building is the result of cross-border cooperation, as the financing of the works cost about 1.2 million lei, and this was raised from tender sources and donations. He pointed out that the largest grant was received from the Hargita County Council through a tender (295,000 lei), the Ministry of Human Resources of the Hungarian government contributed 130,000 lei, and Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt. 53,000 lei contributed to the completion of the construction. 162,000 lei were collected from the believers in Gyimesfelsőlok, and in addition to this, the Catholic aid organization Caritas and Hungarian church leaders helped to raise the funds.
Prayers and materials Before blessing the building, assistant bishop László Kerekes said: he is very proud of the local parish for having succeeded in building the parish, which he believes proves that it is a community that wants to live and can live.
