Police and soldiers took action against 1,36 border violators from Friday to Sunday, the National Police Headquarters informed MTI on Monday.
According to the statistics on the police website, 437 foreigners illegally staying in the country were arrested on Friday, 246 on Saturday, and 343 on Sunday and escorted through the temporary security border by soldiers and police. In addition, ten border violators were arrested, against whom immigration police proceedings were initiated.
In the past week, 2,668 border violators were arrested and escorted back across the country. In the previous week - from September 6 to 12 - the number of people detained was 2,716. In addition, in the past week, 50 border violators were arrested at the Croatian, Romanian, and Ukrainian borders and in the interior of the country, against whom immigration police proceedings were initiated. Proceedings have been initiated against 43 suspects for human trafficking, according to the police summary.
