The general secretary of the Baptist World Association gave a sermon in Budafok. Elijah Brown said: the persecution of Christians today is in many cases more severe than at any time in history. The Secretary General also spoke about the importance of the family. He said: even according to Baptist teaching, the family is a life-long union of a woman and a man, in which their children are raised, it was said in the M1 News.
Persecuted Christians were remembered at the special service held by the Secretary General of the Baptist World Federation in Budapest. Through many stories, Elijah Brown drew attention to the fact that the persecution of Christians today is in many cases worse than at any time in history.
In his interview with M1, the Secretary General highlighted that not only Christians, but also Christian values are being attacked in many places in the world. As an example, he cited the family, which according to the Bible consists of a woman and a man who raise their children in a lifelong community.
" We see that the winds of changing cultures want to blow the trumpets, but we stand by the unchanging truths of the Bible and God in this matter as well. We believe that even though they are trying to question it, they are trying to compromise these truths. For us, these are unchangeable ," said the Secretary General of the World Federation.
Zsolt Németh, chairman of the foreign affairs committee, told M1 after the service:
considers it gratifying that several international organizations agree with the Hungarian government.
"On such important issues as the issue of child protection, the protection of the institution of the family, the protection of life - there is complete agreement between Baptists, Catholics and other denominations," said Zsolt Németh.
" I was touched by the family protection of the Hungarians " - Pope Francis already spoke about this shortly after his visit to Budapest. The head of the Catholic Church called the Hungarian family protection measures exemplary.
" You can see a lot of young couples and children in Hungary, which is promising and a guide for Western countries, where demography is a cause for concern. In Italy, but in Spain the situation is even worse, many villages are empty and inhabited by dozens of old people. Hungarian laws help couples to get married and have children, " explained the Holy Father.
About the meeting, said on Kossuth Radio on Friday
the Holy Father called the fight for the protection of families in Hungary the most important for the future of Europe.
"He also sees that great forces are at work, especially in the Brussels bureaucracy, to relativize the family, and he put it so harshly that I have never succeeded. He said that families cannot be allowed to be relativized. The family is the father, mother, child and period. He didn't say to argue or argue, to have strong enough arguments. He said that exactly, there is no dispute about it," emphasized the Prime Minister.
The prime minister also said that the Holy Father encouraged Hungary to continue its family protection measures. And the Hungarian government will continue to do so, Viktor Orbán stated.
