The EU-supported cross-border scholarship program of the municipalities of Mórahalm and Nagybecskerek has started, 17 young people from Hungary and 17 from Vojvodina received their contracts on Friday in the small town in Csongrád-Csanád county, the Mórahalm municipality informed MTI.

According to the announcement, the purpose of the program with a budget of 862,000 euros is to promote cooperation and networking between experts, researchers, students and businesses by learning about the economic development processes of the Serbian-Hungarian border region, as well as to lay the foundation for a life path model for young people living in the border region, to stay in their homeland encouragement. 46 young people applied for the call for scholarships, supplemented by a mentoring program, announced in the spring, and all applicants were interviewed personally.

During the course, which starts in November, all students receive a gross monthly stipend of 563 euros, their activities are supported by a mentor, with whom they draw up a work plan. In addition to face-to-face or online training, students who spend the half-year scholarship in the neighboring country visit companies and institutions operating in the region, and also do practical work at companies and organizations that match the profile of their training. They added: in this way, students can learn about successful companies operating in the region, new technologies and research results, clean and green solutions, and processes that promote environmental protection.
