The purpose of the conference, which will be held with the participation of 38 countries, is to exchange experiences in the rule of law and promote the development of minimum international standards

The digitization of justice and the application of artificial intelligence will be the main topics of the justice ministerial conference that Hungary will organize from Tuesday in the framework of the Hungarian presidency of the Council of Europe, Judit Varga announced in the current program of the M1 channel on Monday.

The choice of topic is all the more fortunate because Hungary is at the forefront of the digitalization of justice, the Minister of Justice said.

The purpose of the conference, which will be held with the participation of 38 countries, is to exchange experiences in the rule of law and promote the development of minimum international standards, he added.

Judit Varga said: the 21st century is everywhere confronting the actors of the justice system with the challenges of digitalization and the application of artificial intelligence. Digitization makes administration easier, but it is important that basic rights and data protection aspects are not violated, he explained.

He drew attention to the fact that the coronavirus epidemic helped a lot in the digitization of justice throughout Europe, for example, cases did not get congested in Hungary either. This also proves that there is a lot of unused potential in the digitalization of justice, said the minister.

Regarding the fact-finding delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Citizens' Rights, Home Affairs and Justice (LIBE)'s visit to Hungary, Judit Varga said to the host's question: her experience is that the investigation is part of a political witch hunt, which was also reflected in the composition of the delegation. Four of the seven members of the board are left-wing, he continued, and only two of the three right-wing members are "true right-wing", which means that they think differently about family and immigration.

"It is our job, no matter how they accuse us," to provide the most precise legal answers, said the minister.
