A Hungarian youth linked to the terrorist organization calling itself the Islamic State was captured by the Counter-Terrorism Center (TEK), said the Director General of the TEK on the current channel M1.
János Hajdu explained about what happened in the past few days: this case is related to the case of a young Hungarian man who claimed to be an Islamist and was arrested in June, who planned several terrorist attacks in Hungary.
During the communication analysis of V. Kende, they found his conversation with T. Dominik, who was just captured. At the same time, information was received from the German police that the man had shared various materials inciting jihadist fighting online. The IP address was identified in Hungary.
The arrested man saved more than a thousand files about the cruelest methods of execution and terrorist propaganda. The man also accessed pages that require administrator access, said the director general of TEK, who confirmed when asked: it is the propaganda channel of the Islamic State.
János Hajdu also said: T. Dominik was not yet as far along in the process of radicalization and assassination planning as V. Kende, but if he hadn't been caught now, a straight path would have led to that point.
The director general said: the 23-year-old man, who professes to be a Muslim, is Hungarian, his father was also born in Hungary, but his family had Algerian roots. The young man's family background is very difficult - he pointed out, noting that terrorist organizations are looking for people who have lost hope and feel like they are nobody.
János Hajdu was asked about the fact that the terrorist organization calling itself the Islamic State is increasingly active online. He pointed out: the threat of terrorism has not stopped, but rather transformed, and due to online radicalization, crimes are committed much faster. If a susceptible young person is reached, he can carry out an assassination within days or weeks.
Until then, however, they may be invisible to the authorities, their family, and their environment. It is possible that it only appears in the online space on the day of the commission, which is why it is difficult to prevent assassinations, he explained.
According to the director general of TEK, almost everything takes place on the Internet. He emphasized: the European community is prepared to deal with the threat of terrorism.
