A new time capsule was placed in the cross of the Esztergom basilica at a height of 100 meters on Thursday during the renovation of the dome.

Csaba Török , governor of the Esztergom-Vári Cathedral Parish and director of the Cathedral Treasury, said that the capsule contains the list of priests of the Esztergom-Budapest Archdiocese, commemorative medals of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress, a mouth mask commemorating the epidemic and the memoirs of Cardinal Péter Erdő.

A hand-made copy of the original document found and damaged in the capsule placed 176 years ago was also placed in the hermetically sealed glass cylinder. The glass cylinder was enclosed in a stainless steel casing, which was secured with a coil and provided Péter Erdő .

Pál Völner , the Fidesz member of parliament for the region and the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Justice, said that only the most necessary repairs were carried out in the country's largest church after the Second World War in "rush work", and now 13 billion forints are available to completely renovate the Esztergom basilica with several years of work.
