Sixteen, mostly elderly, chronic patients died and another 859 Hungarian citizens were diagnosed with the coronavirus. So far, 5,924,446 people have been vaccinated in Hungary, of which 5,703,088 received the second dose, and 1,12,000 received the third dose.
The number of infected people identified in Hungary has increased to 837,248.
The number of those who died rose to 30,418, and the number of those who recovered rose to 792,242. The number of active infected people is 14,588. 999 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals, of which 144 are on ventilators.
There are 9,982 people in official home quarantine, the number of samples taken is 7,182,085.
The new cases are caused by the delta virus mutant.
Unvaccinated people are most at risk, so they are asked to register and get vaccinated as soon as possible. Less than one percent of those vaccinated get sick, and the course of the disease is usually much milder than those vaccinated. The majority of the Hungarian population has registered for vaccination and has already received it. Those who have not yet registered can still register on the www.vakcinainfo.gov.hu . The government is providing another 800,000 rapid antigen tests to general practitioners to help contain the epidemic.
Family doctors have already carried out rapid tests, and now they will have even more opportunities to filter out suspected coronavirus patients from those presenting with symptoms of seasonal respiratory diseases. This is followed by Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén (48,938), Győr-Moson-Sopron (45,577) and Hajdú-Bihar county (44,056). The county least affected by the infection is still Tolna, with 18,043 infected.
