Donald Trump's model should be used in connection with the war in Ukraine, because in order to promote peace in the Middle East, it was crucial for the opposing parties to negotiate with each other during the agreements concluded with the mediation of the American president, stated Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó in New York on Friday.

Péter Szijjártó spoke at the meeting of the UN Security Council, who drew attention to the fact that the creation of peace is extremely important for the whole world, which, in turn, requires proper negotiations and real dialogue. The focus of the minister's presentation was the creation of peace. Péter Szijjártó said: the world has to face many crises in parallel since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. He also said that he represents a country neighboring Ukraine, so the effects of the war are "immediate, direct and very serious" for Hungary. He added, "living next to a war zone makes us interested in establishing peace as soon as possible".

The war in Ukraine is a regional war, but in this context I would like to make the comment that it is absolutely certain that the more regional conflicts there are in the world, the greater the chance that they will culminate in a global war, even a world war, which - so I think - none of us want to experience it. The war in Ukraine highlights the importance of ending and resolving the current situation and as many regional and armed conflicts around the world as possible.

Péter Szijjártó also drew attention to the security challenges in the Middle East:

The Middle East has always been a serious security risk for the past decade. The security situation in the Middle East has a direct impact on the security situation in Europe.

According to his justification, the disturbance is caused by restlessness and a combination of different security factors - such as the spread of terrorism and the further "massive wave of illegal migration". In his opinion

Together, they represent a very serious security risk for Europe. (…) Today, Europe in particular does not need this, perhaps it would not even be able to handle such a security risk, such a serious security challenge. That is why it is of absolute importance for us Europeans to take big steps towards peace in the Middle East.

Péter Szijjártó also touched on the issue of the global food crisis , which is largely a consequence of the armed conflict in Ukraine, as a food supply crisis has developed in many parts of the world as a result of interrupted Ukrainian and Russian grain deliveries.

"And where food problems arise, violence and terrorism rear their heads, and because of this, new waves of immigration may start," he warned. He added: that is why it is an important step that the railway transshipment terminal at Fényeslitke, on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, whose capacity is twice as large as the largest facility of its kind in Europe so far, was handed over. Here, they can transship 800 tons of grain per hour, which can continue its journey to the northern Adriatic ports, and from there to the world market, explained the head of the ministry. Péter Szijjártó also spoke about why it is important to create peace in the Middle East.

If we look back over the past decades, there have been many failed attempts to create peace or come closer to peace in the Middle East.

He cited as a good example the activities of Donald Trump and Gerald Kushner, thanks to whom a dialogue between Israel and the Arab countries was established, which laid the foundation for peace between them. According to Péter Szijjártó, especially in the current situation, the methodology, the methodology on the basis of which the Ábrahám agreement was concluded, can provide a lot of lessons in Eastern Europe, because "from this we can also draw conclusions about the situation in Ukraine". According to his words, the key in bringing the so-called Abraham agreements under the roof was that the US government was able to achieve that countries that had not negotiated with each other for many decades, because they were at war or at least in a very serious conflict, rebuilt their communication channels. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade believed that this required a leader who was brave enough and strong enough to open or re-open the channels of communication between parties who were otherwise in serious conflict with each other. He described the Ábrahám agreement as a positive development for which "realistically there was no hope before."

I believe that if President Trump managed to create peace and reorganize the relationship between Israel and some Arab countries, then it is also possible to create peace in Ukraine, since exactly the same method is needed there: dialogue and the reopening of communication channels.

In his speech, the head of the ministry emphasized the importance of negotiation, because according to his conviction, if there is dialogue, then there is also hope for peace. He emphasized that he is confident that the rhetoric of war will be replaced by the rhetoric of peace in the UN as well.
