The Polish government follows the policy of "indirect exit", the indirect liquidation of European Union membership, by questioning and not respecting the community's rules and principles, Manfred Weber said on Tuesday.

The head of the European Parliament (EP) faction of the European People's Party (EPP) emphasized in a statement to German national public television ZDF:

the Polish government is right that the European Union is not a state.

The EU is an "association of free countries" and is like a condominium that operates according to rules. This policy must be followed by everyone who wants to live as a member of the house's community. This may even mean that the constitution must be amended for membership, and even the name of the given country must be changed.

However, the Polish government questions and does not respect the common rules and principles, which means that it follows the policy of "indirect exit".

This is unacceptable, it causes harm to the community and only benefits Russian President Vladimir Putin,

who "wants to destroy the rule of law and wants a weak European Union", explained the leader of the largest faction of the EP.

He emphasized that he is not on the side of "Polexit", the termination of Poland's EU membership, but on the contrary, he strives to keep the community together. As he said, it is necessary to achieve that the Polish government respects the rules of procedure again. Therefore, to the European Commission

should take advantage of the possibility to withhold EU subsidies,

if the independence of the judiciary is violated in the given country, the state of the rule of law in Poland must be discussed openly in the European Council, which brings together the leaders of the member states.

Regarding the demonstrations in Poland the other day, he emphasized that the processes cannot be controlled from the outside, that Polish citizens must stand up for the rule of law. "Poles want to live in a country in which they respect the rule of law and we must build on these forces," said Manfred Weber, who made a statement regarding the fact that a debate will be held in the EP with the participation of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the recent decision of the Polish Constitutional Court, according to which some EU rules are incompatible with the Polish constitution.
