Under the name Alliance for the Common Good (ACG), a European think tank network was established with the participation of Christian-conservative political science centers from five countries at the initiative of the Fundamental Rights Center (AK). Magyar Hírlap asked Miklós Szánthó, the director of the AK, and Karolina Pawlowska, the director of the Polish Ordo Iuris. Details from the interview.
Miklós Szánthó: Together with our Central European partners, we created the ACG to fight for the Europe that gave and represents the greatness of our civilization.
I think it is clear that today, unfortunately, we are once again living the era of the ideological cold war: the utopia of a globalist liberal world society is opposed to the organizing power of local societies with a sovereignist-traditional language. The former is dominant, so the way of life based on the triple unity of God, country and family, in which we believe, is under comprehensive attack. One of the main goals of the association is to repel these attacks and even take the initiative. This includes, of course, symbolic and intellectual activity, joint conferences, research projects, but also concrete political and worldview advocacy.
Karolina Pawlowska: Our main goal is to create a cooperation space for like-minded organizations from Europe and the whole world, to protect real values, sovereignty, human rights, freedom of speech and academic freedom. These values are under threat today, mainly due to the very effective march of the radical left through the institutions, which is particularly clear at the international level. Therefore, it is no longer enough to act at the national level, it is time to join forces and change the fact that the left dominates the public discourse.
"What joint plans do you already have?"
Miklós Szánthó: In the first round, we want to strengthen the practical and regular cooperation between the participating organizations and the flow of information. The second step is the mental reprogramming of meaningful regional EU decision-making processes affecting Europe through further networking and e-network. A good example of this is that the campaign led by the Polish partner, Ordo Iuris, has so far prevented the EU from ratifying the Istanbul Gender Convention.
Karolina Pawlowska: We want to consolidate our communication efforts, share reliable information about our countries and organizations that operate within our network. We will also organize joint events, conferences, seminars and publish joint reports. It is also very important that we allow space for open academic debate, which is based on the truth, not one-sided due to political correctness and cancel culture. We want to integrate academics and promote the training courses that contribute to our cause. The network closely cooperates with the recently founded Collegium Intermarium University in Warsaw and other European academic institutions.
– Is it possible to counterbalance the Soros network? How?
Miklós Szánthó: By means similar to the ones they used to influence legislation and law enforcement decades ago: the aforementioned networking, supporting each other's organizations, activating early warning systems. It is clear, of course, that we are starting from a competitive disadvantage, since the forces of the open society have already reached the point where the West refuses the values and history from which its current prosperity and wealth derive. Mária Schmidt very aptly said recently that while we here in the "East" defeated Marxism, a renewed version of it won in the West. Our age has gone crazy with this woke identity politics, but the system of new taboos and false truths leads to a dead end for progress. And this is not only true for the left - unfortunately, the forces in Western Europe, nominally calling themselves Christian Democrats, first gave up everything for power, but then they lost power itself. Look: West of Vienna, the European People's Party does not provide a single prime minister. From all of this, however, comes the conclusion that what is left of the real Europe is today here in Central Europe - the ACG will do its best to preserve this, and of course we are waiting for the joining of our Western European friends who are brave enough to contradict political correctness and the culture of sensitivity.
