The daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung published an article entitled Better not to vote against him, in which it was revealed that Manfred Weber was re-elected as head of the European People's Party group in the European Parliament last week without being able to vote against him.

This was reported by Magyar Nemzet, which previously also reported that the European People's Party (EPP), which is the largest faction in the European Parliament, re-elected Manfred Weber as its faction leader last week with an overwhelming majority, 162 of the 173 votes cast, with 11 abstentions. With this, the Bavarian politician can start his third term at the head of the political group.

The Süddeutsche Zeitung revealed an interesting detail of the EPP's decision-making: as they wrote, even though the People's Party announced as a sign of unity that there was no counter-vote for Weber, it was actually not possible to vote against the faction leader.

According to the newspaper, there were only two options in the digital voting: Manfred Weber or stay.
