The number of vaccinated people is 5,943,832, of which 5,724,539 have already received their second vaccination, and 1 million 141 thousand have already received their third vaccination. 3,125 new infections were confirmed, increasing the total number of identified infections to 855,339 since the beginning of the epidemic. 36 people died, most of them old, chronically ill, so the number of those who died rose to 30,647.

The number of recovered people is constantly increasing, currently 796,435 people, and the number of active infected people has risen to 28,257 people. 1,798 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals, of which 197 are on ventilators. The number of people hospitalized due to coronavirus infection is constantly increasing, but there are fewer than in the same period of the previous year, said the chief physician of the infectious disease department of the Dél-Pest Centrum Hospital yesterday on the current channel M1.

János Szlávik said that the delta variant of the coronavirus is much more contagious than previous variants, so it is difficult to predict how the epidemic will develop. According to his assumption, the fourth wave could reach its peak by November or December.

He emphasized that vaccination is also important now because those who have received it are much less likely to pass on the infection. In addition, 80-90 percent of the serious course of the disease can be prevented with vaccination.

When asked whether it will be necessary to introduce new precautions in Hungary, he answered, "it is absolutely certain that something needs to be done". He continued, based on the epidemiological data, if the pandemic continues to worsen, then something must be done, as has been done in several other countries in Europe.
