Kossuth and Jászai Mari prize winner Sándor Ozter died of a heart attack at the age of 73. The actor's wife, Donatella Failoni, shared the news on her Facebook page.
After graduating from the College of Theater and Film, Sándor Ozter signed a contract with the Vígszínház in 1971. He was a freelance actor between 1976-78 and played at the National Theater until 1989. After that, he worked as a freelancer again from 1992 as an artist of the National Theatre. The audience got to know him as a versatile actor. He played both dramatic heroes and character roles successfully. His reputation was based on the film series Sándor Rózsa, which he filmed while still in college. In 1972, he won the Grand Prize of the San Remó Film Festival for his performance in the film Breakout. In 1982, he received the Jászai Mari Award, and in 1988, he was awarded the Distinguished Artist Award. His main theater roles included Othello (Shakespeare), Caesar (Shakespeare: Antonius and Cleopatra), Dunois (GB Shaw: Szent Johanna) and Balázs (Zsigmond Móricz: Nem hotek musiksászó without). His versatility is clearly shown by the fact that he was also popular in film roles. For example, he starred in the already mentioned Outbreak, Argo and the film Whiskey.
