The strengthening of the country experienced in the last 10 years allows us to provide unprecedented amounts of resources for the development of the people living in the countryside. Expanding and renewing the infrastructure of rural villages and towns, supporting agriculture more than ever before, and strengthening local communities are our long-term national strategic interests.

The government's goal is that by 2030 our country will be among the 5 most livable member states of the European Union, and that both those who live there and those who move there will find their calculations in every corner of the country. In recent years, an important trend reversal has occurred. Today, more people would move to small towns than to our big cities. That's why we have to ensure that living in a small settlement is not a disadvantage for anyone. For this, the strengthening of agriculture and rural small and medium-sized enterprises is fundamentally important, since the countryside is not only a habitat, but also a place for our common prosperity.

That is why the government decided in December 2020 to expand the Rural Development Program and supplement it with the highest national co-financing allowed by EU rules, and to significantly increase the Regional and Urban Development Operative Program Plus framework given to local governments by about a quarter. All this by further strengthening the subsidies operating from national sources, such as the Hungarian Village Program.

The countryside has countless values, advantages and reserves of strength!

Hungarian people love the countryside. Not only do they like it, but more and more people would choose an environment that provides a calm, safe, healthy and family-friendly lifestyle as a place of residence. And the government is a partner in this, providing incentives and support so that the young people in the villages stay in their place if they wish, and so that the decision between settling in the city and the villages becomes a choice between lifestyles and not quality of life.

INCREASING THE POPULARITY AND RETAINING POWER OF THE COUNTRYSIDE, ATTRACTIVE AND LOCALLY JOBS THAT PROVIDE A COMPETITIVE LIVELIHOOD, GOOD-QUALITY AND HIGH-STANDARD INFRASTRUCTURE AND SERVICES ARE NEEDED.

The era of abundant resources has come for the countryside. The goals of the new 2021-2027 development policy period have been designed so that more money than ever supports the development of settlements and the strengthening of the countryside. In a unique way at the European Union level, from 2021 the Hungarian government will supplement the EU's agricultural policy's rural development resources with 80 percent instead of 17.5 percent - the largest possible amount.

WITH THIS, WE TRIPLE THE SUBSIDENCE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT, WHICH MEANS THAT IN THE NEXT SEVEN YEARS ONLY IN THE RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM WE WILL SPEND HUF 4,265 BILLION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUNGARIAN COUNTRYSIDE, HUNGARIAN AGRICULTURE AND FOOD INDUSTRY.

Tasks and opportunities will be discussed at the Rural Conference 2021 starting today.
