The government included the freezing of fuel prices at HUF 480 as part of the utility reduction, and even though the left and Brussels attack the utility reduction, the government defends the achievement of the utility reduction, said the director of communications of Fidesz in Kossuth radio's Sunday newspaper program.
István Hollik highlighted: a serious energy and utility crisis has arisen in Europe, energy prices have increased explosively, the Hungarian government has decided to defend utility reduction. Thanks to this, utilities are not increasing in Hungary - alone in the European Union. This had to be supplemented this week by freezing the price of fuel at HUF 480 as part of the utility reduction, he said.
He noted: Péter Márki-Zay, the candidate for prime minister of the left, made it clear what the energy policy of the left is, "market prices must be passed on to the Hungarian people", energy efficiency must be such that people consume less.
Regarding the petrol price, Péter Márki-Zay made it clear that he could not accept any social component, if they had passed, the petrol price would not drop to HUF 480 next week, added István Hollik.
The spokesperson emphasized: this is familiar, as the left represented this even before 2010. The heads of government - Ferenc Gyurcsány and Gordon Bajnai - "spread their hands" to let the market prices fall on the Hungarian people so that the energy companies could profit.
According to István Hollik, the utility reduction over the past five years has proven that "authority pricing works". He emphasized: in the midst of the energy crisis, the most important thing is to protect the utility reduction, even if it is attacked by the left and Brussels.
The communications director of Fidesz emphasized that the utility reduction not only kept prices under control, but also provided security and predictability to Hungarian energy consumers, businesses and families alike. The pillars of Hungarian energy policy are the Paks nuclear power plant, the long-term gas agreement with Russia, the country's energy supply is assured, he added.
In response to the news about the sale of the Budapest City Hall, he said that Mayor Gergely Karácsony should speak honestly about the issue, pour clean water into the glass, because "many questions arise" in the matter and he does not think it is right that the Mayor does not answer the questions. It is in everyone's interest to see clearly in this case, he emphasized. He believed that "it can be a matter of gossip" that the trustee was disciplined by the mayor after what happened and that he "considers the case settled". "In our opinion, this case is not settled with a disciplinary one," he stated.
The spokesperson was also asked about the fact that Fidesz is holding its renewal congress today. In this regard, István Hollik highlighted: in 2010, a "ruined and bankrupt country" was inherited from the left, but in the past 11 years, the country has recovered "and is moving forward".
In the past 11 years, we have reduced unemployment, the minimum wage has almost tripled, we have protected people from migration and we have also reduced utility prices, he listed. He added: "the Fidesz congress is therefore about our readiness to continue the more than a decade of country-building work, on the basis of which Hungary is clearly in a better position today than it was in 2010". According to István Hollik, the numbers prove that since the regime change, Hungary has not had such a successful ten years as the one we left behind.
