It is now possible to apply for the purchase of machines against frost damage. As of November 17, 2021, applications can be submitted to the call for support of investments for the prevention of spring frost damage announced with a budget of HUF 5 billion within the framework of the Rural Development Program, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy announced.
The head of the ministry reminded that spring frost damage is one of the biggest growing risks , especially in fruit growing, where frost damage occurs more frequently. Unfortunately, according to meteorological forecasts, an increase in extreme weather events can be expected in the future, so the role of protection against frost will increase in value. He emphasized that rural development measures significantly contribute to the prevention of extreme climatic events, such as frost damage. The call for tenders, which can be applied for from November 17, aims to provide support for the implementation of damage prevention investments in order to increase crop safety.
The minister explained that the call for tenders provides an opportunity to purchase equipment and technologies against frost damage, such as fixed or mobile air mixing equipment, autonomous heat generating equipment or towed heat generating machines. He drew attention to the fact that the amount of non-refundable support that can be claimed within the framework of the call can be a maximum of HUF 100 million with a support intensity of 80%.
