Momentum will no longer be a national party, it will shift even more to the left: at the delegate assembly of the renewal on Sunday, EP representative Anna Donáth was elected as the party's new president. His mandate lasts until next summer, political analyst Dániel Deák writes on his Facebook page.
He represents a western, progressive left-wing trend, and thanks to his family background and position, he has an extremely extensive network of contacts at the European level and in the circles of the parties of the "old left".
He is already a third-generation politician in the family. Donáth's grandfather, Ferenc, was the head of the Rákosi Secretariat until 1951, while his father, László Donáth, became a parliamentary representative of the post-communist MSZP four years after the regime change.
Clearly a supporter of the coalition led by Gyurcsány, he applied for the presidency with a characteristic left-wing program.
