The Szent Angéla Buda Franciscan Singing School, the Szent Angéla High School Choir, the alumni Szent Angéla Choir, and the parents' choir gave a charity concert in the Szent Imre church in Budapest.

Many people were moved by the charity concert organized to help the Covid orphans. "After the long preparation and the limited online lessons, the children had a huge desire to finally be able to perform the works together, live," said Gabriella Semjénné Menus, the conductor, to Vasárnap.hu.

The preparation was not easy, he added. A significant difficulty was also the fact that it was possible to hold band rehearsals a total of four times, but the adults' and parents' choir could not even be present at the morning rehearsals. So the entire choir heard the program in its entirety at the concert on Sunday afternoon.

The biggest challenge, however, was the fact that the choirs were on hiatus last year, and education was conducted almost exclusively online. We held the rehearsals in the virtual spaces by recording the items part by part and then sending the audio to the children. All of this made both teaching and learning extremely difficult.

I found that the difficulties had a positive return. During this period, everyone had to take more responsibility for common goals. The students learned their own words better because they knew that a lot depended on them. This attitude also made them musically confident.

After the long preparation and the limited online classes, we had a huge desire to finally be able to perform the works together, live. With the charity concert, they want to support Covid orphans through the Regőczy Foundation.

This is a church school, he said, and as such, we constantly educate and accustom the children to the fact that it is the Christian's duty to patronize the downtrodden, the poor, and the sick. In this sense, this kind of "sensitization" has been a tradition for hundreds of years.

Since the foundation of our school, philanthropy for some purpose has always been present.

For example, our choir was several times in Subcarpathia, where we offered donations for a Franciscan kindergarten, but we also collected money by singing in churches in Budapest. In this sense, broadcasting the charity concert was not unusual. The coronavirus epidemic and its tragic effects are not unknown to children either, they also encounter the events. Almost everyone has had the disease in their family. Young people know the seriousness of the situation, they know that not everyone can recover from the disease.

Benefactors can transfer to the donation account of the Franciscan Order ( account number: 11600006-00000000-28408844 ). If this form of support is chosen, please be sure to include the note "COVID ORPHANS" in the announcement. The collected donation will be delivered to the Regőczy Foundation after December 2, together with the money collected at the concert. We also thank you for all well-intentioned donations!
