Albert Camus wrote these lines at the beginning of the world's turning away from itself, in the 1960s, in his work The Rebel Man : "On the day when sin takes pleasure in the image of innocence, through an interesting transfer, innocence is called upon to justify itself." Well, these are the days we live in these days.

The Capital Court upheld the first-instance sentence imposed on the Fidesz representative of Kispest local government, in which Gabriella Dódity was reprimanded. The representative was sued by the former local socialist politician Csaba Lackner for a Facebook post in which he implied that Lackner was taking drugs. Dódity announced: the Court will challenge the decision.

However, in the recordings that were later made public by HírTV and caused a serious scandal

In the company of a bag containing white powder, Lackner explains to his companions how the corruption of the district's left-wing leadership works.

Although investigations have been launched in connection with the case, they have so far not led to any results, just as the anti-corruption investigation committee of the municipality led by the socialist Péter Gajda was unable to put anything worthwhile on the table before the mayor did not extend the board's mandate in April last year.

Lackner demanded one and a half million damages from Dódity Gabriella and that the court oblige her to do 180 hours of community service. Acting in the first instance, the XVIII. and XIX. District Court in February this year

condemned and reprimanded the Fidesz representative for the offense of defamation.

However, instead of the one and a half million compensation, he only ordered the ruling party politician to pay the court costs.

At today's hearing, the Metropolitan Court of Appeal upheld the verdict. Gabriella Dódity - who could not attend yesterday's hearing due to illness - called the decision absurd to our newspaper, also complaining that the court refused to listen to their witnesses and did not include the mentioned recordings and the photos taken from them as evidence.

Referring to Lackner in his Facebook post, he laconically remarked:

“He didn't have white dust on his nose, and he didn't have a line between them. And he's not in the footage anyway. I'm a trolleybus."

The representative told our newspaper: Kúrán is challenging the verdict.
