The number of vaccinated people is 6,087,474, of which 5,823,818 people already received the second vaccination, and 2,269,551 people already received the third vaccination. 11,871 new infected people were confirmed, bringing the total number of identified infected people to 1,068,888 since the beginning of the epidemic. Most of the 162 people who died were elderly and chronically ill, so the number of those who died rose to 33,866. The number of recovered people is constantly increasing, currently 862,534 people, and the number of active infected people has risen to 172,488 people. 6,913 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, of which 695 are on ventilators.

On the fourth day of the Vaccination campaign week, the number of administered vaccines set another record: 139,000 vaccines were administered on Thursday. A total of 527,000 vaccinations took place during the action week, of which 435,000 already received the third booster vaccination and 63,000 people who had not been vaccinated so far decided to receive their first vaccination. In view of the success, the government will extend the Vaccination Action Week - this was announced by Viktor Orbán in a radio interview on Friday morning.

On Thursday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved the vaccination of 5-11-year-olds with the Pfizer vaccine. Hungary is ready to organize this as well, there are enough Pfizer vaccines and the government has contracted additional Pfizer vaccines to vaccinate children.

As part of the Vaccination Action Week, you can get vaccinated at hospital vaccination points from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. without prior registration or appointment. Hospitals across the country are waiting for those arriving with increased vaccination capacity either for the first, missed second, or third booster vaccination. Unvaccinated people can come to the vaccination point without prior registration, in which case they will be registered on the spot. Those who arrive without an appointment will be vaccinated in order of arrival. Those who registered in advance and booked an appointment online can avoid waiting.

The first major Hungarian scientific research (HUN-VE study) on the effectiveness of vaccinations has been published: The high effectiveness of vaccinations is clear. The research states that all vaccines used in Hungary showed high or extremely high efficiency in preventing infection and deaths related to the coronavirus. The vaccination increased the protection against the fatal outcome of the disease to 88-98%, and to 69-89% against infection. According to scientifically proven data, vaccination - no matter which vaccine - really saves lives and significantly reduces the risk of death. Unvaccinated people are 20 times more likely to die in spring in Hungary.
