The government is working to make life easier for children living with certain types of diabetes and their families, said Katalin Novák, minister without portfolio responsible for families, at a book launch in Budapest.

Minister Ling-Balogh announced at the book launch of Erna Ling-Balogh's youth novel When the Sugar Hits that many decisions have been made in recent years.

In justified cases, parents raising children with certain types of diabetes can also use the children's home care fee (gyod). Next year, its amount will rise to HUF 200,000, which is the same as the minimum wage, which is a significant improvement compared to the previous ones, he pointed out.

Katalin Novák stated: they are trying to improve access to public schools in public education for the affected children, and they are also working to ensure that NGOs working on behalf of children with diabetes can receive grants through tenders. This is the second year that such a tender has been announced with a budget of 100 million forints - he indicated, and then he also said that the government gave one billion forints for the renovation of each type of children's diabetes center.

Erna Ling-Balogh's almost 350-page youth novel, newly published by the Kalliopé publishing house, gives an insight into the everyday life of young people with diabetes.
