On Tuesday, the National Assembly ordered the referendum initiated by the government after the adoption of the Child Protection Act. In addition to the ruling party representatives, only a few independent representatives took part in the voting of the decision on this matter, the opposition factions did not vote.

The parliamentary resolution contains four questions.

These are the following:

"Do you support the holding of classes on sexual orientation for minor children in public educational institutions without the consent of the parents?";

"Do you support the promotion of gender reassignment treatments for minors?";

"Do you support the unrestricted presentation of sexual media content to minors that affects their development?";

"Do you support showing gender reassignment media to minors?"

The parliament voted on the issues one by one. The following voting percentages emerged in order: the first question was accepted with 123 yes votes, one abstention, the second with 124 yes votes, one abstention, the third with 125 yes votes, while the fourth question was accepted with 125 yes votes, with one abstention.

The decision also states that if the national referendum is held on its own, the cost will be HUF 12.6 billion - regardless of the number of questions, if they are voted on on the same day - but if a referendum is held at the same time as the parliamentary election, then the referendum will cost less and the cost is only 5.5 billion.

On November 9, the parliament changed the procedure of the national referendum to an opposition initiative, unanimously. This makes it possible for a referendum to be held at the same time as parliamentary, European parliamentary or municipal elections. The limitation that a referendum cannot be set for a date within 41 days before and after these elections was abolished.
