According to Fidesz representative Zsolt Benkő: Márki-Zay does not care about Hódmezővásárhell, the city is starting to decay, even those who trusted him a few years ago are starting to become disillusioned with the mayor. Today they also see it, he is a bad mayor, there is only duma, division, he does not do meaningful work for the city.

Péter Márki-Zay undertook a demanding task when he started the primary election for the opposition's prime minister candidate, and since he won, he has even more and even more difficult tasks: six parties with opposing positions on many issues should be navigated to the elections, and there to victory. drive. He also thoroughly enjoyed the task, the only problem is that he would also have to manage a 43,000-county city, which is a huge job in itself. And it seems that Hódmezővásárhely has become a victim of Márki-Zay's national political ambitions.

According to Benkő, after the primary election, the mayor sees Hódmezővásárhely only as a hinterland, which provides the financial and other background for his political activities.

Benkő also considers it unacceptable that Márki-Zay's most important campaign organizers are financed from Vásárhely tax forints, because they receive their salaries – in some cases in the amount of millions – from the Hódmezővásárhely municipality. At the evening press conference of the second round of the primary election, the opposition prime minister-candidate himself named these people: deputy mayor János Szabó, Dénest Olasz, the IT specialist of the City Hall, who helps his social media campaign, Gyula Jovaný, who transports his supporters to the events, and János Kis, the chief of staff of the mayor's office, he said.

The representative of the ruling party also considers it very sad that the vaccination rate of the residents of Hódmezővásár is relatively low compared to the national average. He explains this by the fact that Péter Márki-Zay regularly attacks the government's defense program, and in the past he also spoke against Eastern vaccines several times, like many members of the opposition. According to him, this creates uncertainty in the population.
