Referendums are the strongest tool against attempts to exert pressure on child protection measures, the leader of the Fidesz faction said on Kossuth radio's Vasárnapi Újság program.
Máté Kocsis said: Brussels wants to cancel the child protection measures through infringement proceedings. It is not difficult to notice the connection, he continued, that the left-wing prime ministerial candidate ( Péter-Zay Márki-Zay ) also announced on his return from Brussels that he would abolish the relevant laws.
He added: it is a big disappointment that the European Union pushes child protection rights into the background because of "violent LGBTQ propaganda", which targets children by advertising on all platforms that it is possible to change gender and publishes content that is not suitable for children's age.
He explained: the questions of the referendum are about whether sessions showing sexual orientation should be held without the consent of the parent, whether sex reassignment surgeries can be popularized, whether content affecting children's development and showing gender change can be shown in the media without restrictions.
The parent has the exclusive right regarding the upbringing of the child, that is, only the parent can decide whether he or she wants to introduce these to his or her child, the faction leader emphasized.
Máté Kocsis also spoke about the fact that in Hungary, for example, it has not yet been the case that kindergarten children were subjected to gender reassignment surgery without parental consent, but in Belgium, for example, it is possible to do this without parental consent from the age of 14, and from the United States to Western European countries, it is becoming more and more common , that sensitizing lectures are held in kindergartens and schools.
The goal of the law and the referendum is to prevent such cases in Hungary from now on, because according to the ruling parties, neither natural nor alternative forms of sexuality are suitable for kindergarten students, he said, adding: the law is about children, it does not apply to adults.
