The summit of European conservatives in Warsaw ended with a joint statement. Leaders of twelve conservative European parties gathered in Warsaw on Saturday to discuss the future of the European Union and closer cooperation with the right in the future.

The conservative leaders, including Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Marine Le Pen, the presidential candidate of the French National Consolidation, and Santiago Abascal, the president of Spain's Vox, came to Warsaw at the invitation of Jarosław Kaczyński, the leader of the Polish governing coalition, the party leading the Polish government coalition, Jarosław Kaczyński, reports Hungarian Nation. After the meeting, those present adopted a joint statement, according to which "the conference participants have a common and deep conviction that the European Union consists of free and equal nation-states, which are connected by many areas of close cooperation". As they wrote, we share this conviction with many millions of citizens of EU member states.

"Only through such a model of European cooperation can we save the European Union from further crises and tensions and put an end to the disturbing idea of ​​creating a Europe controlled by a self-appointed elite"

- continues the joint statement, which was shared on Twitter by Katalin Novák, vice president of Fidesz, who is also in Warsaw. According to the document, the speakers also agreed to reject the arbitrary application of EU law, the distortion or even the violation of treaties.

"Only the sovereign institutions of states have full democratic legitimacy. European institutions do not enjoy the same legitimacy, so they should play a subordinate role in the political architecture of nation-states," the statement reads.

The participants also discussed the closer cooperation of their parties in the European Parliament, including the organization of joint meetings and the coordination of votes on common issues such as the protection of the sovereignty of the member states and the position on illegal immigration.
