Seventeen years ago, the left betrayed Hungarians across the border in a vile way, when it campaigned against Hungarians living abroad in the referendum on dual citizenship. Árpád János Potápi, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy, reminded us in a statement issued on Saturday that he has been the disgrace of the traitorous left until today. According to the politician, the events of that time caused incurable psychological wounds and left a mark on Hungarian-Hungarian relations for a long time.

János Árpád Potápi emphasized in his announcement: "It took us many years to fix what the left destroyed." He recalled: "2004. in response to December 5

among the very first measures of the new Parliament established in 2010, it voted with an overwhelming majority the law on dual citizenship, which made it possible for Hungarians living abroad to finally become part of the nation in the sense of public law."

According to him, national reunification was followed by the years of nation building. "We have been working for twelve years now with the adoption of laws confirming national unity, the construction of the national political institutional system, and a series of programs and grants to help Hungarians living abroad to stay and thrive in their homeland," he wrote. He added:

Through many years of hard work, we have achieved that Hungarians living abroad are now in reality an inseparable part of the nation.

János Árpád Potápi highlighted: "In 2022, the same left wants to return, which once destroyed the country and inflicted incurable wounds on the body of the nation. The left, which to this day seizes every opportunity to incite Hungarian against Hungarian and to create hatred between Hungarians in the motherland and abroad."

There are no two left-wing parties, and anyone who plays from the left-wing's music is a left-winger himself. It is our joint responsibility not to allow the past to return in 2022, the state secretary reminded.

Afterword: “I remember sitting in front of the TV and sobbing. It cannot be true that our Hungarian brothers are betraying us. We were sure that at least five million people would go to vote, or rather everyone who lives and moves, so that somehow we could fight back for Trianon in the most peaceful but most decisive way! Finally, the liberating Hungarian people could have come together and trumpeted it to the world: we, the proud Hungarians, are of the same blood even after a century!

That's what this shame is for us! Shame is the most painful human feeling: it suggests exclusion from the community!" - said a friend of mine from Székely at the time, and even though I tried to explain that it was all manipulation, Gyurcsány and his communist comrades came to power with the coup - like their predecessors so many times in the terrible XX. century - they misled and intimidated people. They were delirious about the fact that 23 million Romanians would take away their bread and flood the country! You see, that's why two million of us went and voted for dual citizenship. However, the national-Christian parties stood by you! There was a majority, but... - I hesitated.

"There were many of you, but not enough! - he said, looking at Orbán and looking into the distance! Always have enough on national issues! We Szeklers will be with you!" (2022Plus)
