A website collecting national holidays and international commemorative days has been launched, which provides assistance in organizing celebrations and commemorations for the given event, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources announced at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.
Bence Rétvári said that the site contains content related to 48 significant events, including 288 scenarios, which contain supporting material for the entire celebration. These include, for example, content related to the opening of the academic year, the 1948 revolution and freedom struggle, the Christmas celebration, Hungarian Poetry Day, or World Water Day.
The site contains descriptions, methodological recommendations, texts, videos, and audio materials about the events, and you can find out what traditions are associated with them, what sources are worth getting information from - he explained, adding: you can also put together your own scenario on the website and then print it out.
He informed: the portal was created by the Office of Education (OH), they used questionnaires to assess which holidays people were interested in, then edited publications, and collected the various works and uploaded them to the website.
The purpose of the website is to help teachers in their work when they are preparing for celebrations and memorial days, added the state secretary.
Sándor Brasói, the President of the Office of Education, spoke about the fact that the website responds to the needs revealed by schools, but when it was created, one of the goals was also to make available copyrighted works - films, pictures, audio materials - that teachers can use to make lessons more colorful .
The portal can also help parents when they want to tell their children about an event, as well as mayors, local communities, and organizations if they want to celebrate an event, he added.
According to the president, the portal helps students acquire knowledge better, because they gain a lifelong experience when they interactively participate in, for example, a commemoration.
