The number of vaccinated people is 6,208,430, of which 5,923,284 have already received their second vaccination, and 3,065,350 have already received their third vaccination. 4,977 new infected people were confirmed, bringing the total number of identified infected people to 1,218,295 since the beginning of the epidemic. Most of the 154 people who died were elderly and chronically ill, so the number of those who died rose to 37,530. The number of recovered people is constantly increasing, currently 1,026,254 people, and the number of active infected people has decreased to 154,511 people. 5,856 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 519 of them are on ventilators.
As part of the vaccination campaign, you can get vaccinated again without making an appointment on Friday afternoon and Saturday at the hospital vaccination points. Vaccination of children aged 5-11 is also going well, and the registration and appointment website is constantly open for parents.
The omicron virus variant is already present in Hungary, so we still ask the unvaccinated to take the vaccine, because the chance against all variants is greater with the vaccine than without.
We still ask those who have been vaccinated to take the booster vaccination, as 80-90 percent of them increase immunity again. Now it is possible to receive the vaccination again at the hospital vaccination points without making an appointment in advance. As part of the new Vaccination promotion that started on Thursday, you can still go to the vaccination points without making an appointment at the following times:
- on Friday, December 17, between 2-6 p.m.,
- on Saturday, December 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In the vaccination promotion, only people over the age of 12 are vaccinated at hospital vaccination points, vaccination of children aged 5-11 is still only possible by making an appointment or at home pediatricians.
Registration and appointment booking for vaccination of children aged 5-11 is open continuously. Children are vaccinated in 77 hospitals and at family pediatricians. The registration and appointment website is constantly open for parents. Parents who have registered their child with complete data in the past few days and have already validated their registration can enter the appointment booking system. The parent can also notify the family pediatrician that they want to vaccinate their child. All children aged 5-11 can be vaccinated if the parent requests it and there are no contraindications to the vaccination. Vaccination is contraindicated in case of acute, febrile illness. The second vaccination is also due for children 3 weeks after the first vaccination. In addition to hospital vaccination points, pediatricians who require the vaccine also vaccinate.
The Vaccination Working Group is planning additional vaccination action days for January, when in addition to hospital vaccination points, vaccinations will be held at all district headquarters and, of course, general practitioners will also vaccinate.
In addition to healthcare facilities and public transport, masks must still be worn in shops, shopping centres, post offices, customer services, theatres, cinemas, museums and sporting events. At indoor cultural and other events, gyms, swimming pools, spas, and catering establishments, the use of masks is mandatory for those working there.
In order to increase vaccination coverage, employers can require their employees to be vaccinated. Vaccination is expected in the public sector, in municipalities the mayors can decide on the issue. Companies that require their employees to be vaccinated can also request a vaccine from the county vaccination workgroups, in which case the company doctors can also carry out the vaccination.
