From January 1, 2022, the amount of medical wage subsidy available in general practitioner and dental practices will increase significantly. The rate of increase in the categories of communities of practice exceeds 40 percent compared to 2020, and on top of that, the public burden on wages will also decrease, the Ministry of Human Resources writes in its press release.

Starting in 2010, the Government prioritizes the moral and financial esteem of healthcare workers, which is well reflected by the fact that the highest rate of wage growth took place in this sector.

The average monthly income of a family doctor's practice was HUF 867,000 in 2010, and this year, after the wage subsidy for family doctors and skilled workers, the average monthly income of a family doctor's practice is around HUF 2,626,000.

The healthcare wage increase also extended to general practitioners. The full amount of the medical wage subsidy included in the financing decree is due to the concerned general practitioner and dental service providers if the doctor is employed 40 hours a week and the rate of increase also depends on whether the doctor undertakes a closer or looser community of practice.

From January 1, 2022, the wages of specialists in general practitioner and dental practices will also increase. The skilled workers will benefit from a wage increase, and with the necessary coverage, the financing of the practices will also increase.

Compared to 2021, the government intends to spend more than 75 percent more money on family doctor and on-call care, and more than 93 percent more money on dental care in 2022.

As part of the Hungarian Village Program, 541 medical clinics were renovated between 2019 and 2021 in settlements with a population of less than 5,000, worth more than HUF 12 billion. The program supported 1,708 winning tenders worth HUF 4 billion for the development of medical devices. Thus, within the framework of the Hungarian Village Program, family doctor's offices in the Hungarian countryside were renovated for a total of HUF 16.1 billion. Medical service apartments worth HUF 6 billion were built.

The main goal of the national government is for health workers to receive the social and financial recognition they deserve, to ensure that they have adequate working conditions.
