With the appearance of the omicron mutation, there is also an increase in the number of daily infections in our country, but the number of hospitalized patients has not yet increased.

5,270 new infected people were confirmed , bringing the total number of identified infected people to 1,269,979 since the beginning of the epidemic. 82 people died, most of them old, chronically ill , so the number of those who died rose to 39,599.

The number of vaccinated people is 6,269,955, of which 5,990,568 people already received the second, and 3,191,997 people already received the third booster vaccination. The number of people who have recovered is constantly increasing, currently 1,128,923 people, and the number of active infected people has risen to 101,457 people. 3,090 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 307 of them are on ventilators.

The omicron virus variant is also spreading in Hungary. Based on samples tested for variants, the laboratory of the National Center for Public Health determined that the omicron mutation is responsible for more than 11% of new infections in Hungary.

Between Thursday, January 6th and Saturday, January 8th, there will be another vaccination campaign, when you can get vaccinated without making an appointment in advance. Every Thursday and Friday afternoon and Saturday in January, there will be a vaccination campaign at vaccination points in hospitals and at vaccination points in designated specialist clinics in district centers. Again, you can request the vaccination without making an appointment in advance and by registering on the spot.
