The Constitutional Court upheld the decision of the Parliament on ordering a nationwide referendum, the body announced on its website As written; in relation to the four questions adopted by the parliament, two petitioners also requested that they be examined from a constitutional point of view.

The complainants wanted to have the Constitutional Court annul the decision of the Parliament, because they believe that the questions of the child protection referendum are unconstitutional.

The recently published decision revealed that it is up to the President of the Republic to decide when to call the referendum. Incidentally, one of the petitioners objected to the fact that, according to the news, the referendum will be held on the same day as this year's parliamentary elections. The Constitutional Court (AB) indicated that this is not their competence, and no complaints were received against the legal amendment enabling this. According to the other complaint, the referendum will cause problems with the rule of law, which, according to the petitioner, also put Brussels' recovery funds at risk. The AB classified this assumption as hypothetical and noted that it is beyond its jurisdiction to reveal the truth of the claim.
