Mayor István Tarlós responded in a detailed letter to the accusations that question his right to express his opinion, and at the same time summarized what he inherited from his predecessor, Gábor Demszky, and what he left to his successor, Gergely Karácsony.

István Tarlós, the mayor of Budapest between 2010 and 2019, after serving as mayor of Óbuda, does not hide his opinion. He responded in a letter to Péter Németh, the editor-in-chief of Népszava, in which he wrote: he feels sad that István Tarlós, the former mayor of Budapest, the honorary citizen of the capital, is getting more and more involved in the campaign - on the side of Fidesz, and he did not spare his predecessor, he is joining the to his successor.

In his answer, Tarlós raises the question that if Karácsony - who is no longer a candidate for prime minister, and in fact has never become one - can politicize day after day and send messages to Putin and the President of the United States, then why shouldn't he, who has been mayor and mayor for much longer, speak out? in political matters? Why should you not be able to take a stand even on issues affecting the future, if asked? Why shouldn't you criticize a policy that you think is harmful?

Regarding his predecessor, Gábor Demszky, Tarlós reminds us that he inherited a debt of 250 billion, a broken public transport system, the development of metro 4 in a chaotic state, and metro 3 in a state of disrepair. year.

In the case of his successor, he drew attention to the fact that Karácsony has been "accusing, slandering, lying, attacking, constantly pointing back and running away without any reason." He did not tell the truth about the debts (question of fact), about the reserve left behind (I only inherited the former). He talked about doing nothing for nine years (a blatant lie). What a mess he made in the case of the Chain Bridge! He did not start anything with the fully prepared project for more than a year, and then he lied about the five billion more expensive offer that it was cheaper. He didn't tell the truth about the Blaha Lujza tér project either." Tarlós later addressed the City Hall case in his letter, in which, according to his wording, his successor also came up several times.

In the case of the accused former mayor Péter Márki-Zay, he feels that his over-pronounced Christian right-wing is discredited. "Anyone with right-wing sentiments and thinking does not get along with DK and especially with Momentum. What is actually the identity of Péter Márki-Zay?" - asked Tarlós, to which he added: "Would he be able to pursue right-wing politics against Ferenc Gyurcsány?"
