The wastewater treatment plant that was built in Ghana as a Hungarian investment and which János Áder visited in the African country on Saturday can clean the wastewater of two million people with excellent quality. During his several-day visit to Africa, the Hungarian head of state visited Kumasi, where a wastewater treatment plant built by the Hungarian Pureco-Unit Consortium has been operating for a year and a half.

After seeing the project, János Áder said that the realization of the investment clearly demonstrates what Hungary talked about in connection with the World Water Meetings: our country not only sheds light on the problems, but also wants to show the solutions , to take them to the places where they are most needed in the world. .

The Hungarian head of state emphasized that the wastewater treatment plant created in Kumasi was implemented very quickly, in about a year and a half, despite the worldwide spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

As he put it: Ghanaians are satisfied with the wastewater treatment plant and two more investments will be made. "This is a very good example of knowledge and technology, Hungary had to defeat very serious competitors for this," underlined the Hungarian head of state in his statement.

János Áder touched on the fact that in Africa, in Ghana, the fundamental condition for further development is clean water,

without it, they cannot provide for the population, there is no modern agriculture and industry, and they cannot prevent diseases.

According to the President of the Hungarian Republic, in addition to sewage treatment, drinking water purification, climate-adapted plant breeding and the transportation and preservation of harvested crops in the region may be areas in which Hungarian expertise can be of help. During his visit to Africa, János Áder will travel to Kenya on Sunday after Ghana.
