It is not even known who and how many loans will be taken out for the Budapest campus of Fudan University in several years, but the opposition wants to make this a campaign issue now... And the fact that they are demanding an extension of the jobseeker's allowance at a time of never-before-seen, tiny unemployment. From this point of view, it is no wonder that they were not able to gather enough signatures for their referendum initiative in time. It seems that as soon as it does not carry out the "authentication" itself, the united extreme left is unable to even mobilize people. It is no less instructive that these Machiavellians could not come up with a better idea than these anemic referendum questions.
It looks more and more like they let go of this signature-gathering hope on the left. In the words of Péter Márki-Zay: foolish to think that this was the thematization leading out of the pit. With Péter Jakab's speech, we could add: hello!
The situation seems to be that the left has failed this whole thing as it is. After confident pledges and threats, they have now changed to a confident separation of responsibilities. Now they are blowing on and betting against those on whom the calling of the referendum will depend.
Together with Fidesz, if there's enough blood in their pockets, we'll call the referendum - Bence Tordai on Monday First, they promised the required number of signatures by Christmas, then by the end of the year, and finally by the middle of January , but they gave up and now they started packing up the collection points, as if they had given up. At the same time, as a faint consolation, they wholeheartedly praised their activists, who froze unnecessarily for a month in public spaces. If by some miracle the 220,000-230,000 signatures deemed necessary would come together, then it would be the turn of the National Electoral Office to authenticate them. You have sixty days to do this, and you can take another ten days if someone files a legal remedy request regarding the authentication. Next comes the Parliament, which must order the referendum within thirty days - that's why the Tordai extraordinary meeting and the speeding up of the public law process - and finally the President of the Republic has fifteen days to call it.
The date of the referendum must fall at least fifty days after the announcement. There does not appear to be any reason for the Fidesz-majority Parliament and János Áder to thank the left for the sneaky O1G and moustache. Now the people of Tordaben are faced with the fact that when they are too little to do something on their own, then goodwill and help are not a subject's right. But if the Fidesz faction and the president were to be possessed by an angel and they could do what they can do in this area in one day, and let's assume that no one would challenge the authentication of the signatures, the authentication would still have to be done in twenty-three days to be completed by the National Electoral Office instead of the available sixty days. And all of this is only valid if the opposition would give up today, but it won't.
To put it more simply: it would require extra goodwill and hard work from everyone so that the referendum questions of the extreme left could also be put on the table on the day of the parliamentary elections. To put it even more simply: they failed this too, and not because of Fidesz, but because of their own misery.
The most likely thing is that those signatures will not come together. Without an occupying Soviet army, the extreme left in Hungary is not enough. Of course, they will try to put the blame on Fidesz, to get at least one insult out of it in the campaign. This will be good for the further cajoling of the fanatical Orbán-haters, nothing else. Then it will soon be completely forgotten, just like the Index (ex-Telex) new job counter , which at the time was quietly removed by these goofy media scoundrels after they saw that the government was really creating a million new jobs in ten years.
