The policy of the Hungarian government does not belong to the European minority, but to the mainstream!
Hungary is not a member of the unorthodox minority in Europe. Hungarian opinion belongs to the mainstream, from which a significant part of the European elite stands out - said Gábor Fűrész, president of the Századvég Public Knowledge Center Foundation, at the conference presenting the research of the Századvég Europe Project on Monday, in Várkert Bazaar. Fűresz presented the 2021 results of the research carried out every year since 2016, and according to him, the fact that Hungary and Poland are at odds is part of the game, because the Hungarians embody what the people of Brussels do not want to admit to themselves. The president of Századvég assessed that if we do not look at the elite, then the Hungarian position belongs to the rule, not to the exception.
Hungary immediately found itself in the crossfire of debates when it was the first to raise the issue of border protection as a central political issue within Europe. At that time, the country was labeled as such, which is still used today, that Hungary and the Hungarian position belong to the minority in Europe, represent some kind of unorthodox, but according to Gábor Fűrész, it is not true that Hungary is alone.
IN THE PAST 10 YEARS, HUNGARY HAS REPRESENTED A POLICY IN WHICH SELF-IDENTITY IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, IN CONTRARY TO THIS, THEY SAID IN EUROPE THAT EUROPEAN IDENTITY IS REPLACING THIS, he said. He explained that the majority of people in the EU envision their future in Europe. According to Gábor Főrész, the main dilemma arose in connection with the operation of the Union.
HUNGARY HAS FOR A LONG TIME REPRESENTED THE POSITION THAT BRUSSELS MUST BE REFORMED. ABOUT THREE-QUARTERS OF THE EU POPULATION WOULD LIKE CHANGES IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE EU, said the president of Századvég.
