As is known, the price cap on certain basic foodstuffs entered into force yesterday based on the government's decision. Several chain stores have introduced quantity restrictions on official price products.

Spar Hungary informed MTI on Tuesday that in the case of in-store and online purchases, customers can buy 10 kilograms of fine wheat flour and granulated sugar, 10 liters of sunflower cooking oil, and 12 liters of 2.8 percent cow's milk at the same time. The maximum quantity that can be purchased at the same time is 10 kilograms in the case of pork leg, and 4 trays or 3 kilograms in the case of chicken breast and leg, depending on the packaging.

Due to the outstanding interest, they decided to introduce the quantity restriction , with the decision they want to ensure that everyone can continue to have access to the affected products in household quantities as usual, stated the communications manager of Spar Hungary.

the CBA network can decide for themselves whether to introduce a quantity limit for official price products. There is a sales limit in some of their stores, but in the majority there are those units where this has not been necessary for the time being, CBA's communications director informed MTI.

Lidl Hungary has also informed MTI that it has introduced a quantity restriction on food subject to the price cap as of February 1. The maximum quantity that can be purchased is 10 kilograms each for Koronás crystal sugar and Belbake fine wheat flour, 12 liters for Pilos UHT milk with a fat content of 2.8 percent, and 10 liters for VitaD'or Sunflower cooking oil, the company announced.

Tesco Hungary has informed MTI that after the official price comes into effect, some products subject to the official price may be available for purchase at a more favorable price than the price on October 15, 2021 . For these, a limit is set on the maximum quantity that can be purchased at the same time. The normal household quantity is 5-12 pieces, depending on the product. On Tuesday, the day the price cap comes into effect, no quantity restrictions will apply to any product, the department store chain announced.

Aldi Hungary told MTI that of a possible quantity restriction for official price products.
