There is a great scramble for the title of "who knows what the least" on the left's policy list, but Ágnes Vadai is definitely on the podium: neither professional publications, nor serious proposals, nor even Facebook posts support that she is really interested in national defense. It seems that he got the best of his military knowledge from his favorite movie, Star Wars, Magyar Hírlap wrote. We quote:
It recently became official: DK Vice-President Ágnes Vadai is the head of the national defense theme of the united left, as they call it, "leader of the policy cabinet", practically a minister of the shadow government. Let's see how Vadai and the left got to this point.
According to her biography, the lady born in Karcág graduated from Szolnok, in 1997 she graduated from the Budapest University of Economics with a degree in international relations, European studies and Spanish economics language teacher. - and studied at the Faculty of Law, obtained his doctorate in 2003, from 1997 he was a teaching assistant at the BKE, then between 2000 and 2005 he was a lecturer at the Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defense, in 2007 he was awarded the honorary title of university professor. In addition to Hungarian, he claims to speak six languages, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Norwegian and German.
A member of the MSZP between 1999 and 2011, he followed Ferenc Gyurcsány to the DK in 2011, of which he was a member of the board and then vice president.
In the parliament between 2002 and 2006, he was a member of the national defense committee and the European affairs committee, in 2006 he became a member of the national defense and law enforcement committee and the national security committee, from July 2007 he was the state secretary of the Ministry of National Defense, between 2010 and 2011 he was the chairman of the national security committee, 2014 of the national defense and law enforcement committee.
As you can see, Vadai's career in military science began when, as a young socialist, he joined Miklós Zrínyi University as an instructor. (We could not find any information about what Vadai taught there.) Between 2000 and 2012, the Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defense was Hungary's only military higher education institution.
During the Gyurcsány-Bajnai government - when Vadai was the state secretary of the Ministry of National Defense - this area was marked by a huge bribery scandal, a general, a colonel and a captain were also brought down, then the rector of Zrínyi was also suspected, and after the change of government he was legally sentenced to prison for influence peddling. In 2012, charges were also brought against the former chancellor of the university, according to the prosecution, the institution concluded a contract for sociological research worth eight million forints, the completion of which was nominally registered by an entrepreneur selling grilled chicken in the Pesterzsébet market. Well, under these conditions, the career of the national defense expert took off.
Regardless, Ágnes Vadai could be a good professional. But there is nothing in the world to indicate this - just like his excellent language skills. After thoroughly searching the Internet, we found only one (!) publication with his name, also in Hungarian. It is a 2001 document of only three pages, entitled Action against terrorism and respect for human rights. In it, Vadai examines the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the "humiliating treatment" of terrorists and states that "Western European states may also be tempted to violate human rights in the course of action against terrorism." The article was published in the journal Fundamentum, published by the Faculty of Social Sciences of ELTE, and its editor-in-chief is Gábor Halmai, founder of the Human Rights Program of the Central European University, chairman of the board of trustees of the Soros Foundation between 2001 and 2004...
In addition to the above article, there is another written trace of Vadai's "national defense expertise", in the December 2007 issue of the magazine Hadtudyánom, the text of one of the then state secretary's lectures was published under the title The Ministry of Defense's thoughts on the situation of military higher education. Since we know that at that time this area was also completely demolished, it is not surprising that Vadai talked about cutting costs, "decreasing full-time hours and increasing course numbers".
