To the suggestion that, after the last two years, it would have been logical for the opposition to challenge Fidesz in a competence contest in the April election, and that it was the Democratic Coalition that - emphasizing the competence of Klára Dobrev - tried to challenge the competence against Fidesz, Gábor Vona said: he does not think it is realistic for the opposition to win against Fidesz in a competence contest, because it does not take two months to build a competence character.
He sees that with Péter Márki-Zay winning the primary, the opposition has found itself in such a confused situation that it has not been able to map on a structural and organizational level to this day, and this greatly harms its competence.
He is convinced that the dilemma for the masses, who will remain uncertain even in the last weeks of the elections, will be the choice between the opposition's ability to govern and their feelings about Fidesz. In his view, this may not be a solvable dilemma, which is why many people may look for escape parties.
András Schiffer considers it important that an alternative force appears to be able to govern, but as he said, there have been cases in Hungary in the last thirty years when the more competent force came to power, here he cited the regime change election and the 1998 election as examples.
