A black actress who was cast in a movie originally written for an older white person broke down and cried on camera because she feels guilty about not being dark enough.
Thandiwe Newton says:
it's so humiliating that he's not black enough to "want to apologize to darker-skinned actresses every day."
Sky News reports: In his new film, God's Country, he adapted James Lee Burke's short story, where the main character was changed from an older white man to a black woman.
Because of course it did. Newton is not satisfied with the old white man being erased from the film, he is seriously upset that he is not black enough, even though he is black.
"The prejudice that lives in me prevented me from realizing that I cannot play this role, even though I was given exactly this prejudice," said the actress. I'm sorry they chose me. My mom looks like you. (he told the black community) he said, visibly upset, that he had a white father, God forbid. "It was very painful that women like my mother felt that I did not represent them. That I am lost from them. I'll take men, I'll take their jobs, I'll take their justice. I didn't want to," he stammered.
In the film, Newton's character confronts two white hunters who he catches on his property. There is no doubt that they are properly terrorized and demonized simply because they are white, Summit News wrote.
