According to the plans, the Pauline monastery being built at Hargitafürdő can be made habitable by the end of the year. They would like to use the investment, which is being made with the support of the Hungarian state, to receive guests and as a place of silence, but due to its design, the building will not be seen only as a monastery. - can be read on the Székelyhon portal.
The Pauline order, founded by Boldog Özséb, came to Transylvania from the motherland in 2013. The Parish of the Holy Cross in Csíkszereda offered the parish and church in Harghitafürdő as a place of service for their priestly vocation. Further thinking about this is the plan, according to which a monastery will be built next to the church by the end of this year.
Pálos monk Bátor Botond spoke to the newspaper about the details of the works. In recent years, priests and lay people have come to us wanting to be with us, to participate in our monastic programs, or just to be quiet from the noise of the world. In this way, the needs also formulated the creation of a new building. As he said, in addition to the five guest rooms, the interior design will also specifically help the quietness, the chapel will be on the top level, in the middle. The library will be located below it, and the lower level will also have a laundry room, dining room, garage, boiler room, and woodshed. From a structural point of view, the concrete monastery will be equipped with a circular corridor with ramps. The cladding of the external facade will be wavy, with a color reminiscent of kaolin, which will not be alien to the landscape. Father Botond noted that the explanation for the tower-like structure is that its floor area is only 170 square meters, so less green space had to be torn out of nature.
The construction contract runs until the beginning of December, according to the schedule, the contractor can keep it. According to the hopes of the church leader, by the middle of August, the feast day of St. Stephen, "the external form of the building will return". He added that approximately HUF 450-500 million had been earmarked for the monastery, which will be built entirely with the support of the Hungarian state, of which at least a quarter was the preparation of the foundation. He also indicated that the nearby Szent István house also came into the possession of the order, where remodeling works are also underway.
