Márki-Zay is no longer able to address voters with advertisements, he has become such a rejected politician. More and more often, he is called to account for his defamatory statements.
Péter Márki-Zay has been on the decline since he was elected prime minister candidate: the right-wing is destroying him in social media and in the real world, and he is getting worse and worse in opinion polls - Dániel Deák, XXI. Század Institute senior analyst.
He added, "in his final desperation, the prime ministerial candidate of the opposition alliance is slowly challenging everyone to a debate, last week he invited Dániel Bohár and me to a televised debate." It means the political death of a politician if he no longer argues with politicians, but with analysts and journalists - stated Deák, recalling: this also started the final downfall in the case of Gergely Karácsony, "he also started arguing with me instead of the politicians".
Gergely Karácsony, like Márki-Zay, cannot be taken seriously, as a result of which their support collapsed, the political scientist pointed out. He noted that Péter Márki-Zay should rather pay the promised millions, since several people proved the veracity of his previous statements.
There is no point in arguing with such a politician, who claims untruths and even denies his own previous statements, because it would only repeat the 2006 election campaign, during which - as Ferenc Gyurcsány himself admitted - the left won the election with lies, he stated. Dániel Deák.
A good feedback for a politician's campaign, he says, is how it performs on social media. Although Péter Márki-Zay advertised for twice as much - thirteen million forints - as a week earlier, the number of interactions dropped by eleven thousand. This indicates that he is unable to address voters even with advertisements, he has become such a rejected politician, the analyst explained. – The same can be felt at his campaign events, where the voters are increasingly calling him to account for his outrageous and insulting statements.
The left-wing voters were also disillusioned - the political scientist continued - which is clearly indicated by the fact that the Gyurcsánys are already trying to get activists for the campaign period with all kinds of promises. The fact that they could not gather at least 200,000 signatures for their own referendum initiative was already a sign of this lack of activists. Deák also drew attention to the fact that there are less than eight weeks left until the parliamentary elections, and during the campaign the main question will be which side can activate its own camp the most.
The right seems much stronger in this, while Márki-Zay even disappoints his own.
This Saturday, the official election campaign will start with Viktor Orbán's annual evaluation speech, and then on March 15, the Peace Procession will mobilize right-wing voters. On the left, Ferenc Gyurcsány opens the campaign period with his speech, thereby indicating that he is the real boss on the left, the analyst emphasized.
He noted: Márki-Zay's popularity was also harmed by the fact that he encouraged his followers to commit election fraud in London, and the Soros organizations invited hundreds of election observers to Hungary on April 3. Despite all this, if the right can successfully organize itself and mobilize effectively, it can win the election despite all attempts at manipulation.
International intervention is what the left can hope for, but Brussels has already indicated that the so-called rule of law mechanism against Hungary will certainly not be launched before the election, so no sanctions will be imposed - explained Dániel Deák. He believes that this is a serious slap in the face to the left, since they were already hoping at the end of 2020 that the sanctions would come in 2021, in comparison, nothing of the sort happened even in February 2022.
