A man walked with his wife's severed head on the open street in Iran, the 17-year-old woman was the victim of an "honor killing".
According to the Daily Mail , the young woman, Mona Heydari, previously fled to Turkey after her family found out about her affair. They later tracked him down and took him back to Iran. She was only 12 years old when she married her cousin, and they raised a three-year-old boy together.
The published video shows the man walking down the street with his wife's severed head, holding a bloody knife in his other hand. With the murder, the man used a legal loophole, because he committed an "honor killing", which the authorities act less strictly on.
"Unfortunately, we witness such incidents as there are no concrete measures to ensure the implementation of laws to prevent violence against women"
- said a member of parliament.
