Péter Márki-Zay praised Ferenc Gyurcsány's wife, Klára Dobrev, in a very special way in the interviews given between the two rounds of the left-wing primaries. The candidate of the left explained that Dobrev is an "extremely talented politician" due to her femininity.
I'm especially proud that, for being a woman, she achieved such an excellent result in the first round," Márki-Zay praised Gyurcsány's wife on ATV's Egyenes beszéd show.
On another occasion in the same program, she said: she was the most successful politician in Hungary in this competition because of her female nature."
At that point, the presenter asked back with visible embarrassment: is the important point that Klára Dobrev is a woman? The candidate of the left responded: "I see that Hungarian society is much more enlightened and better-minded on this issue than many assumed."
Péter Márki-Zay's words show that he despises women, and that he was surprised that Hungarian society has become so "enlightened" that even a female politician can achieve success. The left-wing candidate thus insulted women and the entire society, which he previously assumed was worse.
This was not his first statement in which he made generalizing and offensive comments about women. Péter Márki-Zay previously drew far-reaching conclusions based on what he claims was a letter from a Fidesz sympathizer and a completed crossword puzzle. At the time, he put it this way: ...this rural Fidesz voter sent me a fully solved crossword puzzle newspaper. So it's fantastic, this poor woman, maybe she's a woman anyway, I don't know, I'm just guessing based on her spelling."
Márki-Zay deduced from what he thought was bad spelling that the writer of the letter could only have been a woman. Then he continued his insults:
Well, her only flaw is that this woman sent a newspaper in which one of the crosswords was not solved, but the others were solved, but the solution is everywhere. So we don't know how well he was able to figure it out on his own.
With this statement, the candidate of the left cast doubt on the intellectual abilities of the female letter writer, as he assumed, because he did not believe that she would have been able to solve the crossword puzzle.
Gyurcsány's candidate regularly disparages rural people, calling them ignorant, jerks, and stupid. The antecedent of the example cited above was that in another video, Márki-Zay said that if Fidesz gathered its best people in a rural town, they probably wouldn't be able to solve a crossword puzzle.
Márki-Zay constantly attacks different social groups, so he regularly makes hateful comments about the villagers, calling them stupid, jerks, and ignorant. "The fact that there are jerks in the countryside does not mean that all rural jerks are jerks," he said in a previous video, intended as a kind of apology. Then it turned out that he really only thought of himself and a few other rural mayors as not "jerks."
He also spoke on another occasion that "the poor, ignorant rural people must be enlightened", and that means that Budapest activists must deliver the left-wing propaganda to the rural people, and for this purpose the settlements must be practically occupied.
