The Hungarian government has purchased the seven-story building adjacent to Trafalgar Square, which will become the Hungarian House in London, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced in a video posted on Facebook on Sunday.
Péter Szijjártó said that many Hungarians live in and around London, work or study there, but until now the city has not had a truly worthy home for Hungarian culture, the Hungarian community, and the preservation of Hungarian identity.
The cabinet bought a large, iconic building "so that we can preserve and present our culture in London in a place worthy of Hungary, a country with a thousand-year statehood," said Péter Szijjártó. He emphasized that the new Hungarian House will be a new meeting point for Hungarians living in England.
"It has a theater, there will be a cafe, we will organize exhibitions and performances," said the minister, adding that the offer will also include the option of weekend school for children and Hungarian language education.
"In order for the house to be truly worthy and able to welcome the Hungarian people, it will now be renovated, and as soon as the renovation is finished, in a few months Hungarians living in and around London will be able to take possession of it," stated Péter Szijjártó.
The minister expressed his hope that "this house will serve Hungarians living in and around London as a new meeting point, a new community-building force".

civilek.info: While Péter Márki-Zay tries to use the Hungarians living in England for his own political purposes and incites them to commit electoral fraud, the government is creating a home for Hungarian culture in London. That's all the difference between the two values and intentions!
