The gas price freeze will remain in place until May 15, but smaller gas stations will receive significant help, according to the Facebook post of State Secretary László György.
"In the past three days, we have held forward-looking negotiations with the leaders of the organizations representing small gas stations. We agreed that we have to protect families from rising prices from abroad. That is why we also agreed to maintain the Gasoline Price Stop until May 15, meaning that the price of gasoline and diesel at gas stations will remain HUF 480. The government, having learned and understood the situation of small gas wells, has taken the following six quick measures to help them," stated the Facebook post of State Secretary László György. The measures are as follows.
- Credit moratorium for the affected small petrol wells.
- Waiver of the MSZKSZ fee and transfer of the discount to gas stations.
- Exemption of the social contribution tax between January 1 and May 31 in the case of gas stations with up to 4 employees per filling station.
- From the Magyar Falu Vállalkozás-Restart Program, support for investments of small petrol wells employing less than 10 people with a support intensity of 70 percent in the event of a successful application. This means that the government will take over HUF 10 million of the price of a HUF 14 million fueling machine that operates 4 service pistols. With this, the costs of small gas stations can be reduced, service can be made easier and 24 hours a day, which results in an improvement in the security of supply in the countryside. The amount of support for the entire sector can reach up to HUF 5 billion.
- Zero percent bridging loan within the framework of the Széchenyi Card Program.
- Abolition of the tax payable in the case of energy purchased from abroad (Government Decree 816/2021. (XII. 28.))
"We agreed to continue the negotiations. Our indirect goal is to improve the technological readiness of small gas stations in rural areas, in addition to quick assistance. That is why, in addition to directly helping them, we provide support that makes their operations more competitive"
the post revealed.
