It is quite amazing that even at this time, in times of war, there are people who manufacture and spread fake news in order to make political capital for themselves or others, and try to discredit those who are working to help our compatriots in trouble. - writes Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó in his Facebook post.

He then continues:

I respectfully ask them to finish it!

The reality is the following: our embassy in Kyiv is fully staffed, during the day more than 50 Hungarian citizens personally visited the building for longer or shorter periods of time and consulted with our colleagues on duty.

Since our basic infrastructure is working without problems, i.e. there is water, gas and electricity, my embassy staff can currently perform the necessary tasks and provide assistance to all Hungarian citizens in trouble.

Of course, we are still available for all Hungarian citizens who seek safety in the embassy building, several of our compatriots are currently staying within the walls of the embassy. Of course, everyone can stay as long as they feel the need. It is a vile lie that we would have sent anyone.

Due to the crisis, however, the telecommunications service is unfortunately interrupted, so the telephone lines are not always operational.

If any Hungarian citizen who is in trouble cannot reach the embassy by phone because of this, please call the 24-hour consular service (+36 80 36 80 36), where my colleagues are constantly answering calls and providing immediate information.

In order to be able to receive all calls, the Budapest center of the consular service operates with increased staff.
