Our country is reported unilaterally and based on factual errors in the Western European press, according to the 2021 analysis of the world press and German public media prepared by the Nézőpont Institute, which was presented in a professional presentation on Thursday.

Levente Boros Bánk , director of analysis at the Nézőpont Institute, presented the analysis of the international press image of Hungary in 2021, which examined approximately 10,955 news articles about Hungary from a total of 103 politically relevant media products published in 18 countries in 15 different languages. The study revealed that, in contrast to the typically balanced reports of the Central European region, the preponderance of press releases that paint a one-sided negative image is typical in the Western press.

Sámuel Ágoston Mráz , head of the Nézőpont Institute, presented the conclusions of a study analyzing around 126 news reports from the German public media about Hungary. One numerical example of bias is that in 2021, only 11 supporters of the government and 62 critics of the government were allowed to speak in the coverage of Hungary.

State Secretary Zoltán Kovács explained that, despite the headwinds, government work is not determined by what is said about our country in the West. He criticized the irresponsible opposition communication, which endangers Hungary's international positions with their loud rhetorical elements, as is also the case with the Ukrainian-Russian conflict.
