The European Parliament held an extraordinary session on the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Gál Kinga, the president of the Fidesz European Parliament group, emphasized in his plenary speech: "We fully condemn the Russian military aggression and stand up for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He emphasized: Hungary provides one of the largest humanitarian aid at EU level both to refugees from Ukraine and to war zones for those who are stuck. "We also pay special attention to the safety of the Transcarpathian Hungarian community".

Kinga Gál said: More than 90,000 refugees arrived in Hungary until last night. One of the largest humanitarian programs is taking place precisely in terms of the refugees arriving in our country and the aid to be sent to Ukraine. We accept everyone, regardless of which part of Ukraine they are fleeing from or what their ethnicity is. The whole country helps as one person.

He emphasized: "We fully condemn the Russian military aggression and stand up for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Hungary considers unified European action to be key. In contrast to all malicious fake news and disinformation, in which the Hungarian opposition is unacceptably involved, the Hungarian government supports all joint sanctions and unified decisions, including the European Peace Framework. We cannot allow ourselves to be dragged into the war next door. People don't want war."

Andrea Bocskor, Fidesz MEP representative from Transcarpathia, said in connection with the debate: "The population of Ukraine is living in terrible times, we must help those who stayed in the country, as well as those who were forced to leave their homeland!" He underlined: it is extremely important that humanitarian aid reach Ukraine as quickly as possible. And the borders of the European Union must remain open so that people can find refuge and safety.

"The disinformation campaign directed against Hungary and the Transcarpathian Hungarians, which threatens the security of the Hungarian minority living in the westernmost region of the country, causes great concern. We have to do everything to eliminate this, so that no one endangers the internal peace of the multi-ethnic region! Just like Hungary, Transcarpathian Hungarians also support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, advocate for peace, and lend a helping hand to refugees arriving in the region, regardless of nationality!" Andrea Bocskor pointed out.
